Back today with a short post about my hair baby! After a morning in RCNQ with Daisy my hairdresser I left to meet Scarlett to take these pics which I love. I couldn’t be happier with my hair right now. My mop has been officially been cut into a blunt bob and I love it. It was a decision I decided to take to keep my hair looking healthy while still being able to bleach it and I love the results.
I did go shorter last time I visited RCNQ but this time around I felt more confident about the finish. I thought I’d just do a little round up of the products I’m using on my hair to keep it in great shape. I had some breakage at my crown last year, after repeatedly tying my hair in a bobble on top of my head. After learning the lesson the hard way by not colouring for six months, I now take extra care when it comes to my hair.
For years I ignored my hairdresser’s advice on using top shampoos that would keep the blonde and look after the strength of the hair. Until about 7 years ago I bought some salon shampoo and O M G the difference it made to my hair was ridiculous. I would recommend anyone that colours their hair to always listen to the hairdresser and not think they are just trying to sell you another product. They know their shit and want you to look after your hair, so they don’t have to repair your hair every time you go to have it coloured! In the past I’ve used Davines shampoo and conditioner, but these days I use Redken extreme shampoo and the Aveda deep conditioner, which comes with a hefty price tag of £30! But you will notice the difference. I leave the conditioner on for at least 10 mins every time I wash my hair.
As for after care products for heat styling I have used the dry oil by Davines but currently using the Bumble and Bumble. I give my hair a full spray of this to make sure it’s fully protected from my straighteners. After all that styling and keeping my bob slick, I don’t wash my hair too often, in fact just twice a week if I can, using dry shampoo on those days it’s starting to feel a little icky. The best dry shampoo for me has to be by Living Proof, as it acts like a shampoo and doesn’t just mask the greasy roots but actually washes them.
After all that, I have taken to wearing a straw hat for holidays or very sunny days in the UK just so it protects the colour of my hair. The sun, sea and pool water ends up striping the white blonde, turning my hair a lovely shade of yellow. Not good after spending all that money on getting it the perfect shade of platinum blonde! I’ve found some great hats and accessories from this season, as this summer has been great for updating my hat collection. I still need to invest in a bucket hat!
If you are thinking of having the old chop to a bob do let me know. Also there is a link here to a recent Vogue article of some famous artists that have taken the plunge in the past. They have pick out some great bobs for inspiration.
